The details that matter
Everything that ships

- Submersible pump + timer
- 20-gal reservoir
- 36 net pots

Honest note: NFT is unforgiving of pump failure — roots dry out within an hour or two. We recommend a cheap battery backup if your power flickers.
Questions, answered
What happens if the power goes out?
NFT roots dry quickly without flow. For outages, a battery backup on the pump or a quick manual top-up bridges short gaps; long outages need attention.
Can I grow tomatoes in it?
It is built for greens and herbs. Fruiting crops get too heavy and root-bound for shallow channels — use a DWC bucket for those.

Why we grow it this way
The lettuce workhorse
Nutrient Film Technique runs a thin, constant film of nutrient over the roots in gently sloped channels. It is the method commercial lettuce farms trust because it is simple, cheap to run, and easy to scale. This kit is four food-safe PVC channels, a pump, a 20-gallon reservoir, a timer, and 36 net pots.
It is the sweet spot between the beginner DWC bucket and a full aeroponic build — forgiving, productive, and tidy.
Growing greens at volume? The hydroponics field guide covers NFT spacing and flow rates.
What growers say
Perfect for a salad rotation
I stagger plantings across the four channels and harvest something every few days. Clean, quiet, and cheap to run.
Great starter for greens
Assembled in an hour. My only note is to add a backup for the pump — I lost a batch to an outage before I did.
